What can I expect during the Initial sessions?
The initial consultation (75-90 min.) is devoted to getting to know each other. During this time, you'll be invited to share more about your health, personal relationship with food, movement, and feelings about your body. Together, we'll create an individualized plan for moving forward.
Follow up session (45 minutes) Frequency and total number of sessions will be based on your specific needs. This appointment is to follow up on your progress, discuss the next step in healing, identify barriers, and address any questions or concerns you may have.

How often will I need to see you?
I usually see clients weekly to start. However, this is something that we will assess during the initial consultation, but the frequency and the total number of sessions will be based on your specific needs.
What is the cost for service?
Initial Assessment (75-90 min.) $225.00
Follow up sessions (45-50 min) $165.00
Will my health insurance cover Registered Dietitian services?
We are currently in-network with:
Blue Shield of California, United Healthcare, and Oscar Insurance.
Coverage and benefits may vary based on your diagnosis and specific plan. We ask that you contact your insurance company to check your benefits. There are often costs associated with using
insurance (co-pays, coinsurance, limited visits) and you, the client, will be responsible for those fees. Regardless of coverage, we require a credit card to be kept on file. Use the instructions below to check your benefits.
We are out-of-Network with many insurance providers.
We can offer you a superbill that you can submit to your insurance in hopes of getting reimbursed. It is your responsibility to inquire with your insurance company regarding benefits and submit superbills (we can provide you with instructions when you schedule). The session fee must be paid to Kristie Tovar Nutrition & Wellness, Inc. at the time of service.
Do you offer a sliding scale of payment charges?
Yes, there are a limited number of sliding scale spots available. Contact me if you are interested in learning more.
What forms of payment does Kristie Tovar Nutrition & Wellness take?
You can make payments with cash, check, credit card, Zelle transfers, and Venmo.
Will you work with my other providers?
Yes, I believe coordinating care with your other providers, and past providers is highly valuable. A release of information (ROI) must be signed before I can communicate with any outside providers.
